Seattle Black Film Festival Call For Submissions

The 17th annual Seattle Black Film Festival; formerly Langston Hughes African American Film Festival (LHAAFF) is calling for film submisssions.

After several years of weighing changing the festival name (for brevity and better representation), we put a call out to the community earlier this year to help us determine the new name. The community almost unanimously voted for Seattle Black Film Festival, which better reflects the vast Black diasporic experience we wish to represent.

The 17th annual SBFF is April 23-26, 2020 and will bring together filmmakers, community members and creative leaders for a four-day celebration of Black brilliance at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute in Seattle’s Central District.

Submissions will be accepted until January 5th, 2020. Local filmmakers and students are encouraged to take advantage of free early-bird submission. For complete submission criteria visit filmfreeway.com/SeattleBlackFilmFestival. Check out the call for work trailer here.
