Position title:  Crew Member (6-month positions)

 

Description:

Improve habitat for fish and wildlife, serve outdoors, and gain hands-on environmental skills by joining the Washington Conservation Corps! We are now recruiting AmeriCorps members on our crews statewide. With 52 field crew opportunities and an internship program, we offer a wide range of exciting, valuable opportunities in the environmental field.

 

  • Develop your résumé: Learn trail building technique, help restore salmon habitat along rivers and streams, remove invasive species, and more! The WCC also provides high quality, career-transferable, paid trainings (such as Wilderness Advanced First Aid and Hazwoper) in addition to daily skills training.

 

  • Gain college credits: Earn transferable college credits through our partnership with Walla Walla Community College. Six months or more with Washington Conservation Corps qualifies as Cooperative Work Experience (internship) credits through WWCC, or you can complete a WWCC class at a WCC training conference

Qualifications: Must be 18-25 years old (age restrictions do not apply to Gulf War era II reservists, dependents, and veterans). Strong preference is given to Washington state residents.

Pay: Members earn a biweekly paycheck equivalent to Washington State minimum wage, and receive an AmeriCorps Education Award of $2,960 (scholarship) upon successful completion of 6-month term and 900 hours. Educational loan forbearance and paid sick leave are available.

Start date: March 20, 2019.
