Celebration of Life - Memorial Service for Rev. Dr. Samuel B. McKinney

Celebrating the life of Rev. Dr. Samuel B. McKinney
Memorial Service will be held May 8th, 2018 at 11:00 AM

Reverend Dr. Samuel Berry McKinney served as Pastor of Seattle's Mount Zion Baptist Church from 1958 until his retirement in 1998, where he then served as Pastor Emeritus.  The civil rights leader did much to shape the conscience of Seattle; he was a student of history, who believed strongly in the value of education as a tool of liberation. He supported academic excellence and achievements within his family and in the church.  Reverend McKinney was a founder of Liberty Bank, the first black-owned bank in Seattle and was the first black president of the Church Council of Greater Seattle. He was a member of the Seattle Rotary, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, and Sigma Pi Phi Graduate Fraternity and a 33rd degree Prince Hall Mason.
